Abstract

|
|
Effects of planting density and nitrogen fertilizer level on the hollow heart and internal brown spot of ¢¥Atlantic¢¥ potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) tubers in summer cropping were investigated. Occurrence of hollow heart and internal brown spot increased with the lower planting density and the more delayed harvesting date. Nitrogen fertilizer levels did not affect the internal brown spot of potato tubers, but the hollow heart increased with N level. The top growth, total yield, and dry matter content increased in the plot of the decreased level (5 §¸/l0a) of nitrogen application as compared with the plots of the higher level (10-20 §¸/l0a), whereas glucose content was less.
